UCF Opens UNF Invite With Top 10 Finishes

JACKSONVILLE – The UCF track and field team opened the UNF Invite with eight top 10 finishes on Friday at Hodges Stadium.  
 
Selena Wright ran a personal best 58.94 to finish fourth in the 400-meter hurdles. She was joined in the top 10 by Tamia Badal, who finished eighth in 1:01.41, and Alicia Coleman, who finished 10th in 1:02.24.
 
On her fifth jump of the afternoon, Jasmine Scott-Kilgo put herself on the podium with a mark of 20-0.25/6.10m to finish third in the long jump. She was joined in the finals by Kiara Lee, who took eighth with a mark of 19-9.25/5.72m, and Leiya Green, who finished ninth with a jump of 18-8.5/5.70m.
 
Valerie Lastra ran a season-best 4:27.57 to finish sixth in the 1500-meter run. She was joined in the top 30 by Camryn Williams, who made her collegiate 1500m debut in 4:55.0. Brenna Mullaney finished fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:06.58.
 
Seven Knights finished in the top 40 of the 200-meter dash. Latasha Smith led the way with a time of 23.89. Ani Wells ran a personal best 24.46 in the event.
 
The Knights are back in action on Saturday, beginning with the javelin at 11 a.m.
