GAINESVILLE – For the third straight weekend of the outdoor season, the UCF track and field team saw a school record set. The Knights opened the Florida Relays with a record performance by Charlotte Crook in the 1500-meter run.
A native of Preston, England, Crook tied the UCF record in the 1500m on her way to all-conference honors in 2021 and took sole possession with a 4:20.11 on Friday.. She improved her time by more than a second on Percy Beard Track and James G. Pressly Stadium. Crook finished 10th in the race.
Rayniah Jones added another top 10 finish for the Knights as she ran 23.40 in her first 200-meter dash of the 2022 outdoor season. She won her heat and finished ninth overall.
Brenna Mullaney closed out the day with a personal best performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase. She ran 10:57.91 to finish sixth.
Chloe Hill set a personal best in the hammer throw to open the weekend as her 193-0/58.84m put her fourth on UCF's all-time performers list. Mariana Rodriguez also set a personal best in the 1500-meter run as she ran 4:37.23.
UCF continues action at the Florida relays on Saturday, beginning with the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles at noon. The triple jump kicks off the field events at 1 p.m.
