ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF women's tennis team fell to No. 5 Texas on Sunday, March 6, with a score of 0-4 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The Longhorns came out strong to win the doubles point with wins on court two and three.
Sophia Biolay and Nandini Sharma couldn't overcome Peyton Stearns and Allura Zamarripa on court two, falling 2-6, while on court three, Noel Saidenova and Jaleesa Leslie fell to Charlotte Chavatipon and Vivian Ovrootsky shortly after with a score of 3-6.
On court one, Evgeniya Levashova and Marie Mattel were hanging right with Kylie Collins and Sabina Zeynalova, but the match went unfinished, 3-4, as Texas had clinched the doubles point.
In singles action, Jaleesa Leslie retired her match to Charlotte Chavatipon, falling 3-6, giving the Longhorns a 2-0 lead.
On court three, No. 114 Marie Mattel was unable to get the edge on Sabina Zeynalova as she also fell 1-6, 3-6 on court three.
Texas then clinched the match on court two as Noel Saidenova fell to her ranked opponent of No. 40 Kylie Collins, 2-6, 2-6.
The remaining three courts went unfinished. No. 61 Evgeniya Levashova had the incredible task of facing No. 4 Peyton Stearns on court one and she showed her toughness with a score of 5-7, 0-3 before the match was clinched.
On court five, Sophia Biolay was hanging with Vivian Ovrootsky, 3-6, 4-5, while on court six Nandini Sharma was fighting strong against No. 83 Malaika Rapolu, 4-6, 3-4, but the matches went unfinished.
UP NEXT
After a busy weekend, the Knights will take a week off before returning to another action-packed weekend, taking on BYU on March 17, Harvard on March 18, and Oklahoma State on March 20 at home in Orlando, Florida at the USTA National Campus.
