#18 UCF Sweeps Georgia Southern

ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 18 UCF women's tennis team got its first sweep of the season over Georgia Southern, 7-0, on Sunday, February 6, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
 
The Knights started off strong to clinch the doubles point.
 
Sophia Biolay and Jaleesa Leslie dominated on court three to get the win over Hannah Daniel and Elizabeth Goines by a score of 6-1. Then Nadja Bay Christians and Noel Saidenova defeated Nadja Meier and Silvia Martinez Jimenez on court two, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point.
 
No. 50 Evgeniya Levashova and Valeriya Zeleva were up 5-2 on court one over Heimen and Keranen but the match went unfinished.

In singles, Noel Saidenova kicked things off with a big win over Sophie Wagemaker with a score of 6-1, 6-2, giving UCF the 2-0 lead.
 
Sophia Biolay followed suit as she defeated Paula Hijos on court five by 6-3, 6-1.
 
Despite dropping the first set, No. 64 Valeriya Zeleva came back big to triumph over Nadja Meier on court to clinch the match, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
 
Jaleesa Leslie then defeated Elizabeth Goines on court six, 6-4, 6-4, while Nadja Bay Christians topped Silvia Martinez on court four with a score of 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
 
No. 37 Evgeniya Levashova sealed the sweep with a win on court two over Dana Heiman by a score of 6-4, 6-2.

"I think doubles went really well, everyone's energy was great, and I think it transitioned well into singles. We had tough matches but I'm glad we all pulled it out to win. I hope we will build from this and try to win our next match."
 
UP NEXT
The Knights begin a long stretch on the road, starting with a matchup against LSU on Friday, February 18, in Baton Rouge, Louisianna.
