BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UCF track and field team saw a school record fall for the third straight meet of the indoor season as Brittany Floyd broke her own pentathlon record on the opening day of the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
Floyd, who broke the UCF pentathlon record in her first multi-event competition two weeks ago, improved her personal best by 60 points, accumulating 3,865 points to finish fourth in the event. The Columbus, Georgia, native improved her marks in the 60-meter hurdles and high jump and was among the top six in each of the five events.
Natalia Madison made her collegiate pentathlon debut, finished with 3,298 points for 10th place. Holly Cassels tallied 2,722 points to finish 20th.
Valerie Lastra posted a top 10 finish in her first collegiate indoor 5000-meter run, crossing the line in 17:41.89.
UCF returns to action on Saturday, beginning with the high jump at 1 pm ET. Track action begins at 1:30 p.m. with the 60-meter dash prelims.
