#39 UCF Sweeps #17 Baylor

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF women's tennis team swept No. 17 Baylor, 4-0, on Sunday, February 27, in Orlando, Florida at the USTA National Campus.
 
It was an exciting start to the match as the Knights came out on fire to clinch the doubles point over the Bears in a tiebreaker on court two.
 
Noel Saidenova and Jaleesa Leslie first fell to Ana Carmen Zamburek and Paula Baranano on court three, 6-3. But Evgeniya Levashova and Marie Mattel led 5-1 on court one over the nation's No. 1 doubles team of Melany Krywoj and Alicia Herrero Linana. The Bears fought back but the Knights were able to seal the 6-4 win in a huge upset.
 
All eyes turned to court two, including a loud crowd, as Sophia Biolay and Nandini Sharma led over Anita Sahdiieva and Alina Shcherbinina. The Bears tied it up six all, but the Knights clinched the tiebreaker and the doubles point with a 7-6(3) win.
 
In singles action, Nandini Sharma powered through Paula Baranano on court six by a score of 6-2, 6-3.
 
Shortly after, Jaleesa Leslie got the win on court five over Anita Sahdiieva with a score of 6-2, 6-3.
 
Then on court three, No. 114 Marie Mattel held off Mel Kryvoj to get the two-set win with a score of 6-3, 7-5 to get the sweep and clinch the match.
 
The Knights were still battling on the three remaining courts, but the matches went unfinished as No. 61 Evgeniya Levashova was facing Alicia Linana Herrero on court one, 4-6, 2-4, Noel Saidenova was going up against Isabella Harvison on court two, 4-6, 5-5, and Sophia Biolay was in a close one against No. 122 Alina Shcherbinina on court four, 6-4, 5-4.

The Knights continue their long stretch at home with a big three-match weekend against Eastern Michigan on Thursday, March 3, Michigan on Saturday, March 5, and Texas on Sunday, March 6.
