Knights Lead Some of Nations' Top Teams After Round One in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The UCF women's golf team held its own with some of the best teams in the nation Sunday morning in Melbourne, Florida as the Knights finished day one of the Moon Golf Invitational tied for fifth place with a combined score of 292(+4).
 
At fifth place, the Knights are tied with No. 21 LSU while also leading No. 6 Arkansas (296, +8), No. 9 Alabama (297, +9), No. 17 Auburn (295, +7), No. 15 Baylor (301, +13) and No. 19 Duke (304, +16), just to name a few
 
The Knights were led by the duo of Tunrada Piddon and Camille Banzet in the opening round as the pair finished the day tied for 11th and even with par after shooting 72 on the 6,479-yeard Suntree Country Club Classic course.

Tied for 23rd was senior Alyssa Lamoureux, who shot 75(+3). Behind her was freshman Zoe Allaux, who sits tied for 39th after shooting 3-over 75.
 
Rounding things out, sophomore Jess Baker turned in a 9-over 81 score to sit tied for 79th place after day one.

The Knights will be back at it for round two Monday morning at 8:30 a.m., teeing off on hole one with LSU and host school Lousiville.
