UCF Ranks No. 36 Nationally, 2nd Regionally

ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team landed at No. 36 in the first USTFCCCA ranking of the 2022 indoor season.
 
The Knights also debuted at No. 2 in the South Region, marking the program's highest regional ranking since the 2013 when the Black and Gold were ranked in the top four all season.
 
UCF's No. 36 ranking was also the highest since the 2013 campaign.
 
Rayniah Jones ranks in the top 20 nationally in a pair of events. A personal best 8.07 performance in the 60-meter hurdles last weekend put Jones eighth nationally in the event while her 60-meter dash PR of 7.32 on the opening weekend ranks 20th. Ciara Holback joins Jones in the 60m rankings, as her season-best 7.37 ranks 31st.
 
Latasha Smith won the 400-meter dash with a UCF record 53.16 showing at the Clemson Invitational. Kiah Williams was just behind her with the freshman record 54.46 for second place. Smith ranks 11th nationally in the event, while Williams ranks 26th.
 
The 4x4 relay of Smith and Williams, along with Samieryah Bradwell and Kai'lyn Kirkland, ranks 17th with a 3:41.77 debut.
 
Jasmine Scott-Kilgo ranks in the top 20 with personal bests in both the long jump and triple jump. Scott-Kilgo's 20-1/6.12m in the long jump ranks 17th in the nation, while her triple jump debut 42-0/12.80m ranks 18th. Kiara Lee joins her in the triple jump ranks as her personal best 41-1/12.52m ranks 32nd.
 
At the Hokie Invitational, Brittany Floyd scored a personal best 3,825 points in the pentathlon to put her name in the record book while landing at No. 13 in the national ranking.
 
In each of its first two meets of 2022, UCF has seen both school and freshmen records fall. In addition to Smith and Williams' records at the season-opening Clemson Invitational, Charlotte Crook captured the school's 1000-meter run record with a personal best 2:52.20.
 
Last weekend at the Hokie Invitational, both UCF pentathlon records fell. In addition to Floyd's record performance, Holly Cassels set the freshman record with 3,316 points in her first pentathlon.
 
UCF returns to action on Feb. 4, heading to College Station for the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
