BLACKSBURG, Va. – The UCF track and field team closed out the Hokie Invitational with another solid showing, collecting two more event titles on Saturday.
"This was another successful meet," UCF head coach Dana Boone said. "We came with the goal of building on last weekend, and I think we successfully accomplished that goal. It's important for this young team to seize every opportunity to compete, and they did just that. Now we will rest and get back to training until we return to action in two weeks. I was so pleased with the total team efforts and all of the records set and the personal bests!"
Charlotte Crook continued her strong start to the indoor season, winning the 800-meter run in 2:12.04. She was followed by teammate Katie Pinnell, who finished second in 2:12.46. Lillian Holtery made her collegiate 800m debut with a fourth-place finish in 2:13.70.
Rayniah Jones matched her personal best to take the top spot in the 200-meter dash in 24.01. Latasha Smith ran a personal best 24.21 to finish fourth and Ciara Holback finished fifth in 24.47.
A pair of Knights finished in the top five of the 400-meter dash. Kiah Williams finished third in 55.01. Danielle Bess ran 55.05 in her first 400m, which put her seventh on UCF's all-time performers list.
Jasmine Scott-Kilgo landed at 19-2/5.84m on her second attempt in the long jump to finish fifth.
UCF enjoys a bye week before heading to College Station, Texas for the Charlie Thomas Invitational Feb. 4-5.
