Knights in the Pros Update: December 14

ORLANDO – As the UCF football team began preparation for the 2021 Gasparilla Bowl this weekend, a total of 14 Varsity Knights saw action in week 14 of the NFL season, including Mike Hughes, who forced two fumbles and recovered another, returning it for a 23-yard touchdown.

It marked Hughes's first touchdown since scoring on an interception return in his first-career game back on Sept. 9, 2018. He finished with nine tackles and had multiple forced fumbles for the first time in his career. He now has seven forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries after his Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 48-9 on Sunday.

In a later afternoon game between the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Buffalo Bills, a pair of former Knights scored in the same venue UCF is set to play in on Dec. 23, Raymond James Stadium. Gabriel Davis caught a touchdown and had five receptions for 43 yards, while Breshad Perriman caught just one pass, but it was the game-winning 58-yard score for the Bucs.

Meanwhile, Brandon Alexander won a second consecutive Grey Cup Championship with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this weekend, defeating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-25 in overtime.
