Knights Add Macy Miles to 2022 Recruiting Class

ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF Softball head coach Cindy Ball-Malone and staff have added to an already talented recruiting class for the 2022-23 campaign, inking Macy Miles as the sixth new Knight to sign since National Signing Day in mid-November.

The Naples native comes to UCF as a two-way player, possessing the ability to pitch and hit at a high level.

"Macy is an athlete that can wear many hats," said Ball-Malone. "She is a power right-handed bat and can mix speeds and miss bats in the circle. Macy comes from an extremely athletic family and is considered a team favorite as she is the ultimate hype woman. We could not be more excited to have Macy become a part of Knight Nation and we are looking forward to having her on campus next fall to begin exploring how to best utilize her skills on the field."

Miles has earned multiple awards through her first three seasons of high school softball, including a First Team All-Conference nod in her junior season and a Second Team All-State honor at the conclusion of her freshman season. She helped hoist a title in 2019, earning the Kansas 6A state championship.

Miles has yet to play in her senior season. The all-around star currently plays for club team Aces Fastpitch, coached by Ryan Taylor. She is one of the top 225 recruits in her class according to Extra Innings Softball, checking in as the 72nd ranked pitcher and 218th overall prospect. Upon her arrival to UCF, Miles intends to earn a degree in business.

"I chose to come to UCF because I love the coaching staff and the culture of the softball program, which is so special," said Miles. "UCF is an awesome university that surrounds you with the best people and I wanted to be a part of it."

Miles comes from an athletic family. She is the daughter of Les and Kathy Miles, both who have spent time coaching collegiate athletics. After playing football at Michigan from 1972-75, Les spent 21 years as an assistant coach before becoming the head coach at Oklahoma State in 2001. He also made stops at LSU and Kansas in his 20 years as head coach, securing a national championship in 2007 with the Tigers, topping Ohio State. Kathy played collegiate basketball at Central Michigan and is still ranked highly in free throw percentage and assists in the team's record book. She eventually wound up on the Michigan basketball coaching staff. Macy's three siblings, Smacker, Manny and Ben, all have played at the collegiate level as well. Smacker was a swimmer at Texas, Manny was a quarterback for UNC and Kansas and Ben played fullback for Kansas.
