ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF women's tennis team heads to Athens, Georgia for the Georgia Invitational beginning on Friday, October 22, through Sunday, October 24, at the Magill Tennis Complex.
Georgia, Florida, and Princeton will also be competing in the tournament.
The Knights are coming off a busy weekend at the ITA Southeast Regional tournament. In singles, Evgeniya Levashova made it all the way to the final four while Marie Mattel made it through to the elite eight. In doubles, Mattel teamed up with Nandini Sharma to advance to the elite eight. Jaleesa Leslie and Anique Kattenberg fought their way to the sweet sixteen.
The Knights have already seen the likes of all three teams with success. At ITA Regionals, Mattel has picked up big wins over No. 19 Ma from Georgia and Dudeney from Florida while No. 80 Levashova earned two upsets over No. 15 Kowalski from Georiga and No. 41 Briggs from Florida. Mattel and Sharma paired up to get the upset over No. 50 Hertel/Grant of Georgia. And earlier in the year, Valeriya Zeleva faced Hu from Princeton and also got the win at the Wolfpack Invitational.
