ORLANDO, Fla. – After one of its best seasons in program history, the UCF softball team has released its fall schedule. The Knights will play seven contests against other programs in the state of Florida from early October to mid-November.
"We are very fortunate to schedule a set of games that will allow us to compete against programs that are continuously at the top of the respective divisions," said head coach Cindy Ball-Malone. "The opportunity to play a complete fall schedule again will be huge for the development of our freshmen as they transition to the speed of our game. We are excited for what's possible for Team XXI!"
All but one of the Black and Gold's matchups will be at the UCF Softball Complex. The Knights will get back to action on Oct. 8 as they host the College of Central Florida at 6 p.m.
A week later, UCF will head to Gainesville to take on the Gators on Oct. 15. The Knights got the better of Florida in their two meetings in the spring of 2021, The Black and Gold put up three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off the Gators at the UCF Complex on Mar. 24 before shutting them out 7-0 on Apr. 14. Florida was ranked fifth in the polls for both meetings.
The Knights return home for the remainder of the fall as they host UNF on Oct. 23, a team they took two of three games from last season.
A pair of games will be played on the final weekend of October as UCF will square off with Florida Southwestern on Friday, Oct. 29 before facing FIU the following day. The Knights hosted FIU in March and got the better of the Panthers, topping them 7-1.
The fall schedule concludes with Florida Southern coming to the UCF Softball Complex on Nov. 5 and Florida Tech visiting on Nov. 12.
