UCF Earns 5-0 Win Over Stetson

UCF

Orlando Fla. - The UCF Women's soccer team outlasted the storm to beat Stetson 5-0 despite the game starting three hours late due to inclement weather.

"A lot of adversity with weather delays this season, but I'm really proud of the team because we've been handling it well and staying focus through the delays," head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak had to say after the victory. "We came out strong, scored two goals in the first half, and came out even stronger in the second half, which I'm really proud of. Tough performance, but also some great goals with Kristen and Mal, Marta got her first goal [at UCF] tonight, and Anna was great with her assists tonight. Just overall great team effort tonight, a lot of people coming off the bench tonight, so it was fun!"

The Knights (5-3-0) scored early with a goal from Mallory Olsson in the eighth minute. UCF controlled possession for the rest of the half and broke through for a second goal in the 44th minute when Marta Estupinan put it in the back of the net. They outshot the Hatters (3-5-1) 9-1 in the first half.

It didn't take long after the break for Olsson to score her second of the night when she found the back of the net to make it a 3-0 game.

Minutes later, Kristen Scott joined the fun with a goal to make it 4-0. Scott would give herself a brace just nine minutes later making it 5-0.

The Knights outshot the Hatters 9-1 again in the second half, pushing the total to 18-2 on the night as UCF would hold on for the 5-0 victory.
