Knights Host First Intrasquad Scrimmage

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Knights saw their first action for the 2021 season in an intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday evening in The Venue.

Rotating players between the two teams, the Knights overall tallied notable unofficial stats.

Offensively, MaKenzie Chambers led the way with 17 kills while hitting an efficient .371. McKenna Melville notched 11 kills, Tali Marmen added nine and  Claudia Dillon hit an incredible .467 with nine kills in her first scrimmage as a Knight.

Mary Beth Headley also had a big showing after adding six kills, hitting .333 and leading the team with five aces.

In their first collegiate scrimmage, freshmen Heidi Bonde and Maddie Kinney made themselves known. Bonde recorded six kills with no hitting errors while Kinney notched five kills on the night.

Todd's Thoughts:
"I think we are a pretty good serving team. That was the first thing that I noticed. Our serving really dominates and that's good because that's the hallmark of who we are and who we need to be to be successful.

Offensively, when we were in system, we were unstoppable. The middles were way more involved than in the past and I thought our blocking game was really good.

There is a lot to build on for being just a piece-together type of scrimmage and as we start to whittle this out and formulate what kind of system and line up we are going to run.

All in all, I am really happy with our serving game and our blocking game because to us that is UCF volleyball. The offense is clicking along and we have a lot to look forward to."
