NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 16 UCF women's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon as they fell victim to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of No. 33 Oklahoma.
The Sooners started out strong in doubles as Dana Guzman and Kianah Motosono beat Ksenia Kuznetsova and Jaleesa Leslie 6-0 on court three. Court one was a battle throughout but ultimately went the way of No. 11 Carmen Corley and Ivana Corley as they topped No. 30 Rebeka Stolmar and Marie Mattel 6-4. Court two went unfinished as Camila Romero and Martina Capurro were leading Evgeniya Levashova and Nandini Sharma 5-3.
The Knights and the Sooners split the first frames evenly, each winning three.
Oklahoma struck first in singles as No. 80 Guzman beat Kuznetsova 6-2, 6-3 on court two, snapping Kuznetsova's nine-match singles win streak. They followed it up with a win on court four where Capurro beat Mattel 6-1, 6-4.
The Black and Gold's only point of the day came from court five where Leslie was triumphant over Motosono by a count of 7-5, 6-2. She's won five straight matches and is the only Knight with double digit victories, leading the team with a record of 11-3.
The Sooners clinched the match on court one where No. 97 Carmen Corley edged No. 38 Stolmar by a score of 7-5, 6-4.
Courts three and six went unfinished. The third spot in the lineup saw No. 85 Levashova and No. 91 Ivana Corley tied up and heading into a third set. Sharma won her first set on court six in a tiebreaker and was tied at 1-1 with No. 109 Marcelina Podlinska.

With just four matches left in the regular season, the Knights return home to face their rivals South Florida on Friday at 2 p.m. UCF leads the Bulls in the all-sports War On I-4 tally, holding a 34.5-16.5 edge.
