Knights Close Out North Florida Invitational

JACKSONVILLE – The UCF track and field team closed out the month of April at the North Florida Invitational on Friday on the UNF Track in Hodges Stadium.

"This was our last preparation before conference," UCF head coach Dana Boone said. "I was pleased with a lot of the progress that was made this weekend. It's always tough to compete during exam week, but overall I saw some great indications that we will be ready when it counts."

UCF collected seven top 10 finishes on the second day of the meet in Jacksonville.

Both of UCF's 4x4 relays finished in the top 10. The squad of Kai'lyn Kirkland, Danielle Bess, Samieryah Bradwell and Latasha Smith posted a season-best 3:35.82 to finish fourth while Selena Wright, Kiah Williams, Katie Pinnell and Jadae Barrett joined them with a 3:48.94 to finish 10th.

Kiara Lee picked up another top five finish in the triple jump as she landed at 40-11.75/12.49m to finish fifth.

Alexis Woodley finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.49. Danielle Bess made her 100-meter dash debut with a 10th place finish in 11.64. Chloe Hill finished 10th in the hammer throw as her first toss landed at 165-6/50.45m.

The Knights will have an off weekend next week before heading to Tampa for the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championship May 13-15.
