ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team turned in top performances on the opening day of the Knights Invite at the UCF Track Complex.

The field events set the tone on Friday, as the Knights picked up at least one top five finish in each of the three events in which there was a Black and Gold competitor.

Chloe Hill started the day off with a second place finish in the hammer throw. Her first throw of the day proved to be her best one and was just centimeters shy of her personal best, landing 170-7/52.00m.

Jasmine Scott-Kilgo made the most of her UCF outdoor debut in the long jump. Her first jump of the day was not only a personal best 19-4.25/5.90m, it also carried her to a second place finish. She was joined in the top five by teammate Kiara Lee, whose second jump of the day landed her fourth overall with an 18-10/5.74m.

A pair of Knights finished in the top six of the javelin. Holly Cassels led the way with a fifth place finish while Kennedie Reese turned in a personal best 95-7/29.13m to finish sixth.

UCF had competitors in three different heats of the 200-meter dash. A Knight won each of the three heats. Rayniah Jones and Danielle Bess started things off with a dramatic photo finish in their heat. Jones edged Bess at the line, but both posted personal best times in the event. Jones took second overall in 23.71 and Bess finished third in 23.77. Kiah Williams took the top spot in her heat with a personal best 24.62 and finished 12th overall. While the wind was a bit too strong for the marks to count for personal bests, Ani Wells was the top finisher in her heat and finished 13th overall in 24.70.

In her outdoor debut, Selena Wright won her heat and finished seventh overall with a 1:01.31 in the 400-meter hurdles. In the final women's event of the day, Cydni Turner made her 1500-meter debut, finishing 10th overall in 4:45.28.

UCF continues action on Saturday morning, beginning with the discus at 9 a.m.
