AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 18 UCF women's tennis team saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end as they were defeated by No. 2 Texas by a score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The doubles segment was tight throughout. Texas struck first, grabbing court one as Kylie Collins and Lulu Sun topped No. 6 Marie Mattel and Rebeka Stolmar 6-2. The final two courts were down to the wire, but it was Charlotte Chavatipon and Peyton Stearns who edged Nadja Bay Christians and Evgeniya Levashova on court three by a count of 6-4. Court two was in a tiebreaker at the time the Longhorns clinched the doubles point, as No. 60 Ksenia Kuznetsova and Valeriya Zeleva and No. 48 Fernanda Labrana and Anana Turati were even at 6-6.
Texas kept their momentum going into singles play as they took five of six first sets. The Longhorns earned their first singles point of the match with a win on court two as No. 5 Turati beat No. 42 Stolmar 6-0, 6-2.
Court four fell to Texas next as No. 125 Chavatipon defeated Bay Christians 6-3, 6-2 as the Longhorns pulled to one shy of the clincher. They found the clinching point on court six where Malaika Rapolu topped Jaleesa Leslie 6-2, 6-3.
The match was UCF's first in the Bryan Koniecko era against a top five opponent.

The Knights will be back in action as they host No. 23 Furman on Saturday at 3 p.m. UCF will host FAU the following day at noon.
