Knights Take First-Round Lead at Gators Invitational

The UCF women's golf team finished up the first round of play at this week's Florida Gators Invitational in first place after combining for a score of 283 (+3) on the Par 70 Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Florida.

The 14th-ranked Knights were led by Ana Laura Collado on the first 18 holes, shooting 2-under par 68 and is currently tied for second individually.

"The course played really tough today with fast greens and wind," UCF head coach Emily Marron said on Sunday. "I am really proud of how disciplined they played today. This course can tempt you and they did a great job of sticking to our game plan."

Tunrada Piddon was the only other Knight under par in first-round action, finishing 1-under 69 on Sunday, which leaves her tied for fifth overall heading into the second round.

Alyssa Lamoureux, Camille Banzet, and Jess Baker rounded out the five in competition for the Knights on Sunday. Lamoureux shot a 2-over par 72, Banzet is at 4-over par with a 74, and Baker came in at 9-over par with a 79 on Sunday.

24th-ranked Tennessee is in second after Saturday's action, shooting 6-over par 286, while 16th-ranked Florida is third at 7-over par 287. Ohio State, Alabama (tied for 5th) and Maryland (tied for 5th) round out the top five heading into Monday's second round.
