Knights Second After Day One of Moon Golf Invitational

Melbourne, Fla. – The Knights opened up the Moon Golf Invitational on Sunday, with UCF finishing the first day in second place out of an 18-team field after shooting a 6-under round as a team. No. 3 South Carolina leads the tournament with a team score of 280 (-8), two strokes ahead of UCF; while No. 5 Virginia, No. 10 LSU, and Florida State are all tied for third place, three strokes behind the Knights.

Leading the way for the Knights, and T3 on the player leaderboard, TunradaPiddon carded a 68 (-4) in round one. Piddon earned birdies on four holes and never shot higher than a par on any hole. Alyssa Lamoureux also found herself under par after the first day with a score of 70 (-2), which brings her into the top-10 at T7.

Camille Banzet and Jess Baker, the two freshmen in UCF's lineup, found themselves in the top-20 after turning in 72 (E) scores for the first round. Banzet birdied five holes on the day while Baker birdied three. Rounding out the team line up for the Knights is Ana Laura Collado, who shot 74 (+2) and finished T40 on the day.

UCF will be back at it on Monday, Feb. 15 beginning at 9:00 a.m. for round two of the Moon Golf Invitational at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Fla. Fans can follow along at Golfstat.com.
