Game Notes: UCF at South Florida

The UCF football team (5-3, 4-3) is set to finish out the regular season this weekend. The Knights will take on South Florida (1-7, 0-6) in the annual War On I-4 Friday at 3:30 p.m. from Raymond James Stadium with coverage on ESPN and FM 96.9 The Game.

ABOUT THE BULLS
• South Florida is in its first season under head coach Jeff Scott, who came to the Bulls from Clemson.

• This season, the Bulls have won just one game, the season opener against The Citadel. South Florida has then lost seven in a row, including six straight conference contests.

• The Bulls have had six different players attempt a pass and five different players complete one, but Jordan McCloud has accumulated the most passing yards, throwing for 937 with five touchdowns.

• Johnny Ford has led the way on the ground, totaling 285 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

• UCF ranks among the national leaders in national television appearances by its football squad over the previous two seasons. 
• In 2018 and 2019 combined, the Knights appeared 18 times on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2, ranking tied for 11th nationally in that category.
• UCF has appeared on ABC in three of its eight games of the 2020 season and played on either ESPN or ESPN2 in three others. This week the Knights play their final game of the regular season on ESPN.

• While the air attack has been impressive, don't sleep on the Knights' ground game, which ranks 26th in the nation with 209.0 yards per game.
• In the win over Houston the Knights went over 300 yards rushing for the first time since the Gasparilla Bowl win to end 2019.
• Both Otis Anderson (170) and Greg McCrae (107) went over 100 yards against the Cougars, the sixth time a UCF duo both went over 100 yards on the ground and the first since Kevin Smith and Jason Peters did it on Oct. 4, 2006.
• McCrae (6.7) and Anderson (6.2) are first and second in UCF history for career YPC.

UCFIERCE NOTE
turnover town
• The Knights have forced 20 turnovers through eight games, leading the nation, and UCF is also ninth in the nation with a 1.38 turnover margin. 
• UCF recovered only eight fumble recoveries all of 2019 and has already recovered 11 fumbles through eight games of 2020, a mark that also leads the nation.
• Senior Richie Grant and junior Eriq Gilyard rank fourth in the nation with two fumble recoveries each. 
• The Knights are 5-0 when recording more takeaways than their opponent and 0-3 when they have had an equal amount of turnovers. UCF has not given the ball away more times than its opponent in any game in 2020.
