Three Knights Named to MLB Opening Day Rosters

ORLANDO – Three former Knights have been named to Major League Baseball opening day rosters to begin the 2020 MLB season. Drew Butera (Colorado Rockies), Dylan Moore (Seattle Mariners) and Dan Winkler (Chicago Cubs) are among the group as they have each earned a spot on their respective club's 30-man opening day roster to begin the 60-game MLB season.

Entering his 11th year in the show, Butera has posted a career slash line of .200/.257/.297 while posting a .992 fielding percentage and throwing out 86 base runners from behind the dish. He has played in four seasons with the Kansas City Royals, four with the Minnesota Twins, two with the Los Angeles Dodgers, two with the Los Angeles Angels and two with the Rockies. Butera played for the Knights from 2003-05.

Moore made his debut with the Mariners in 2019, posting a .691 OPS to go along with nine home runs and 11 stolen bases. A third baseman by trade, Moore played all over for the Mariners in 2019, playing every position on the diamond except for catcher. Moore played for the Knights from 2014-15.

2020 will mark Winkler's sixth year in Major League Baseball. From 2015-2019, as a member of the Atlanta Braves, Winkler owned a cumulative 3.68 career ERA. In 100.1 career innings, he has struck out 115 batters and owns a 1.17 career WHIP. Winkler played just one season in the black and gold in 2011.

Although it is not an official spot on the opening day roster, former Knight Beau Taylor has earned a spot on the Cleveland Indians' 'taxi squad', meaning he has a chance to replace a current member of the big league squad if one is injured or underperforms.
