Black and Gold Wraps Up Day One of UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. – After the first round of play, the No. 36 UCF women's golf team is tied for eighth place out of 16 teams competing in the UCF Challenge, which is being held at the Eagle Creek Golf Club. As a team, UCF shot 292(+4) on the first day, putting them tied with No. 14 Illinois and No. 40 Iowa State.

Leading the way for the Knights is freshman Tunrada Piddon, tied for 11th place after turning in a 1-under par performance. Piddon tallied five birdies and four bogeys on the day, putting her five strokes off the tournament leader.

Sophomore Alyssa Lamoureux also had a solid first round for the Knights, picking up an even par.

Ana Laura Collado was 1-over with a 73 score after the first day, while Elizabeth Moon finished the round 4-over par with a 76. Piddon, Lamoureux, Collado and Moon accounted for UCF's team score in the first round. Maria Balcazar rounded out the Knights' lineup with a 77(+5) score.

Chinatsu Kobayashi and Dimana Viudes are also taking part in the tournament as individuals for UCF. Kobayashi sits tied for 29th after carding a 1-over first round while Viudes was 8-over.

No. 13 Michigan State holds the team lead after the first round at 6-under, while No. 39 Miami is four strokes behind in second place at 1-under par. No. 3 Kent State and Purdue are tied in third at 1-over par, while Sacramento State and Penn State round out the top five with a 2-over par performance in round one.
