UCF Headed To Temple For Midweek Contest

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's basketball team heads to Philadelphia for a midweek matchup against Temple on Wednesday evening.
 
The Knights (11-7, 2-3 The American) and the Owls (12-8, 4-3 The American) tip at 7 p.m. ET in McGonigle Hall.

KNIGHT NOTES
UCF rebounded with a 82-66 win over Memphis on Jan. 25. The Knights dished out a season-best 23 assists while shooting over 50 percent from the floor. Four Knights finished in double figures as the Knights picked up their third league win.
 
Kay Kay Wright recorded her third career double-double, pouring in 21 points while dishing out a career-best 12 assists against the Tigers. The Orlando native averages 15.9 points per game, 4.5 assists per game and 2.2 steals per game.

The Knights have also seen a sophomore surge from Brittney Smith, who joins Wright as a double-digit scorer for the Black and Gold. Ten double-digit performances, including a pair of 20-point games, bumped her to a 10.8 points per game scoring average. The Orlando native is also second in rebounding with 5.2 boards per game.

Sianni Martin averages 8.8 points per game for UCF. She and Georgia Gayle are shooting just below 40 percent from beyond the arc and both have made 20 or more treys this season. Masseny Kaba leads the Knights with 6.6 boards per game and also averages 8.4 points per game.
 
The Knights defense has stepped up this season. UCF ranks 34th nationally in turnovers forced at 19.94 per game. The Knights hold a 3.50 turnover margin which ranks 54th in the nation.
 
UCF leads The American and ranks 38th nationally with a 75.0 free throw percentage.

SCOUTING THE OWLS
Temple is 12-8 on the season, with a 4-3 mark in league play.
 
Mia Davis leads Temple and averages a double-double with 19.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Ashley Jones averages 16.2 points per game and Marissa Mackins averages 13.6 points per contest for the Owls. Asonah Alexander averages 4.8 assists per contest while Shannen Atkinson averages 1.1 blocks per game.
 
The Owls hold the all-time 7-5, but the Knights have made up ground by winning the last four meetings.
