LEXINGTON, Ky. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team carried its momentum into Saturday as the Knights posted five top 10 finishes in Nutter Field House to close out the Rod McCravy Memorial on Saturday.
"This was a great experience for our team at this point in the season," UCF head coach Dana Boone said. "We were exposed to some very good competition and responded well. We had a lot of personal bests, which tells us things are moving in the right direction."
For the second time in as many meets, Shian Hyde set a personal best in the 60-meter dash. The senior sprinter crossed the line in 7.39 in the semifinals – an improvement from her 7.40 PR which she set in the season opener. Lining up in the finals, she set another new mark, finishing second overall in 7.38, which ranks third on the NCAA indoor performance list this season.
Ciara Holback joined Hyde in the 60m finals and gave UCF a pair of top five finishers as she crossed the line fifth in 7.45.
A pair of Knights posted top 10 finishes in the 800-meter run. Charlotte Crook ran a personal-best 2:13.10, which ranks ninth on UCF's all-time indoor performers list, to finish sixth in the race. Katie Pinnell joined Crook in the top 10 as her 2:15.62 gave her ninth.
All three of UCF's 400-meter dash competitors posted personal bests to finish in the top 20, led by Samieryah Bradwell's 56.82 time.
UCF returns to action Feb. 7-8, heading to College Station, Texas for the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
