UCF Set for Dick Vitale Classic

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's tennis team will be continuing their fall season this weekend at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate College Classic from Nov. 1-3 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

The Dick Vitale Intercollegiate College Classic is one of the most unique tournaments in college tennis as it contributes to raising funds for pediatric cancer research. Athletes from nationally ranked programs all over the country compete for this special title which is the only clay court event on the ITA/NCAA calendar. Three members of the knights will be taking part in singles action.

Nandini Sharma is ready to add to her fall win total as she has earned nine victories thus far. Sharma recently competed in the ITA Southeast Regional Championship where she reached the quarterfinals. Along the way, she defeated Kennesaw State's Taylor Dean by a count of 6-2, 6-2 as well as South Florida's Amelie Boy by a count of 6-1, 6-1. Sharma has already added some hardware to her trophy case this fall, winning the Bedford Cup in early October.

Valentina Martin comes in with a record of 2-3 this fall, earning a pair of wins in the Bedford Cup. Martin played against North Florida's Kendall Nash by a count of 7-6, 6-1. She also topped Stetson University's Danel Ashirova 6-2, 6-4.
