SOUTH KENT, Conn. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF Men's Golf team won the 2019 Hartford Hawks Invitational on Tuesday, finishing with a total score of 840(-24) through three rounds of play. The victory marked the second straight for the Knights at the Hartford Hawks Invitational after they also won in 2018 with a total of 550(-26).
Following the first two rounds of play yesterday, the Black and Gold were shooting 564(-12) to lead the next best team by four strokes. In the final round, UCF pulled away even more, and their final total of 840 was 16 strokes lower than the next best team, beating out Power 5 schools like TCU (856), as well as helping them to remain unbeaten in The American.
Johnny Travale set the pace for the Knights in the tournament, shooting 209(-7) for his lowest total of the season to this point. Meanwhile, Jordan Sarhaddi, Clement Charmasson and Tommy Cao all followed closely behind as they each shot under par and finished in the top ten of all players at the Invitational. Each player mentioned above shot 69(-3) in the final round of play on Tuesday, good for the third lowest score in the final round.
In total, Sarhaddi shot 210(-6) while Charmasson finished with a total of 211(-5) and Cao finished with 212(-4). Meanwhile, Guillermo Estivill shot 218(+2)
Competing individually, Teddy Tetak shot 220(+4) in the tournament.
Next on the docket, the UCF Men's Golf team will head to Valentine, Nebraska as they compete in the Prairie Club Invitational from September 29-30.
