ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Following a dominant showing at the Sunshine State Invite, the UCF Varsity Four was named the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week on Tuesday.
The Knights’ Varsity Four – Carlee Hoschouer, Lauryn Bench, Chiara Ciullo, Jessica Matteson, Maria Yim – picked up two wins at the Sunshine State Invite.
After defeating No. 18 Alabama by the slimmest of margins (7:18.10-7:18.75) to win Friday’s heat, the Knights followed with an open water win over the Crimson Tide to take the grand final title. UCF crossed the line in 7:21.30, nearly five seconds ahead of No. 18 Alabama (7:26.09).
The squad is the second crew to earn Boat of the Week honors this season, joining UCF’s Varsity Eight who picked up the accolade on March 26.
Next up, the Knights will head to the Carolinas for back-to-back weekends, beginning with the Clemson Invite April 19-20.
