ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – As the UCF baseball team hits the busy part of its 2019 schedule, several former players are honing their skills with Major League organizations at Spring Training.
Drew Butera, who signed a for the Philadelphia Phillies during the offseason, is hitting .228 to start the spring. In his 14th Spring Training season, Butera has six RBI with a pair of home runs over seven games with a .996 OPS mark.
Dylan Moore received an invite to Spring Training last November as a member of the Seattle Mariners 40-man roster. Moore has played in 13 games and posted a .278 batting average with one RBI and a pair of walks.
Chasen Bradford is back with the Mariners for 2019. The 2011 MLB Draft pick has four appearances this spring, throwing four frames with a pair of strikeouts.
After signing for the Kansas City Royals last season, Ben Lively has made four appearance this spring. The righty has a 3.00 ERA over six innings of work with five strikeouts. Eric Skoglund joined his former UCF teammate with the Royals and will continue to workout while missing a portion of the regular season.
Dan Winkler has only thrown five pitches in his one appearance with the Atlanta Braves. The righty fanned one in his one inning of work.
A year after making his MLB debut, Beau Taylor has played in four games for the Oakland Athletics. The catcher is hitting .250 with a trio of walks.
