Knights Edge Pirates in Match Play

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF women's golf team battled rainy conditions and cool temperatures Tuesday morning at Eagle Creek Golf Club. They also battled the East Carolina Pirates in a match play-format event, picking up a victory via tie-breaker.

The Knights and Pirates tied in the competition, with each winning two individual matches and one finishing all square. But UCF picked up the victory by two strokes when going to the tie-breaker.

"It was a great match with a lot of back and forth competition," UCF head coach Emily Marron said. "The weather turned pretty bad and I was proud of the girls for staying tough and gutting out the tie. We are playing well and have some great momentum heading into the Lady Gator Invitational this weekend."

Individual results were as follows: Elizabeth Moon lost to Dorthea Forbrigd; Ana Laura Collado defeated Carly Cox; Alyssa Lamoureux defeated Siranon Shomee; Maria Balcazar lost to Kathryn Carson; Chinatsu Kobayashi and Kate Law tied.

UCF is in action again Saturday and Sunday at the Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville.
