ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s tennis team swept their double header against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats by a score of 4-0 in both matches. The Knights have won four consecutive matches.
“I was happy with what we did towards the top,” said Director of Tennis John Roddick, “We took care of business and didn’t let matches get extended for no reason. All in all, it was a good day.”
MATCH ONE
The Knights started the doubles point already up 1-0 as Bethune-Cookman had an incomplete lineup on court three. Court one and court two raced to clinch the doubles point for UCF, but it was court one to finish first. Gabriel Decamps and Manoel Alencar defeated Victor Bravo and Phillip Lynch by a score of 6-1. Court two was at match point, but their match went unfinished with Bogdan Pavel and Mikhail Sokolovskiy leading Juan Navarro and Jose Plazas 5-0.
Singles play began with a point on court six, as Bethune-Cookman had to forfeit there as well due to an incomplete lineup.
Sokolovskiy cruised through set one on court three as he took down Lynch 6-0. Set two was more of the same, as Sokolovskiy earned a 6-2 second set victory.
Pavel finished right behind Sokolovskiy on court two, as Pavel defeated Castro by a count of 6-1, 6-0 to clinch the first match of the double header.
Courts one, four and five went unfinished as No. 22 Decamps, Alencar and Vasyl Kiselyov were still playing as the match came to an end. Every Knight won their first set.
MATCH TWO
UCF again started with a leg up in doubles as court three had an incomplete lineup. Decamps and Alencar clinched the doubles point on court one by a score of 6-2.
Again, due to an incomplete lineup, UCF won by forfeit on court six, giving the Black and Gold a 2-0 edge.
The Knights went up 3-0 when No. 22 Decamps get a victory as he defeated Bravo 6-0, 6-1 at the top spot in the lineup. Sokolovskiy got his second singles victory on the day as he clinched the match on court three 6-1, 6-0.
Courts two, four, and five went unfinished as Pavel, Alencar, and Kiselyov couldn’t register a win. All were victorious in their first sets.

The Black and Gold will face the No. 29 Miami Hurricanes on Sunday for College MatchDay.
