ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team continues indoor action this weekend, heading to the Music City Challenge at the Vanderbilt Indoor Track Facility in Nashville.
The Knights will compete at the two-day meet for the fourth consecutive season.
Friday’s events will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the weight throw, followed by the long jump at 5 p.m. Five Knights are slated to race in the 200-meter dash at 7 p.m.
Saturday action will begin with the pole vault at 10:30 a.m. The Knights will compete in the shot put and triple jump at 2 p.m. On the track, UCF will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, mile, 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run before closing out the weekend with the 4x400 relay.
In its first two weekends of competitions, UCF has continued to show improvement. Nationally, eight Knights are ranked in the top 75 in five individual events.
The Knights are also moving up among the conference competitors. UCF has 16 members of its squad ranked among the top 10 in their respective events. In the 60-meter dash, UCF holds the second (Nelda Huggins), fourth (Imani Clark), sixth (Ciara Holback) and seventh (Shian Hyde) best marks in the event. The quartet also rank in the top 10 of the 200-meter dash. Zharia Moore has the third-fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles and both the 4x4 and distance medley relay rank fifth among conference times.
In the field events, Daneesha Davidson ranks seventh in the triple jump. A pair of Knights, Shanell Atkins and Jhane’ Carter, hold top 10 marks in the shot put. Carter is joined by Gabby Durant in the top 10 of the weight throw.
