ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- Freshman Elizabeth Moon is four strokes off the lead after two rounds at the UCF Challenge. As a team, the Knights are in 11th of 16 teams at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Moon followed up a first-round 69 with a second round 70 (-2) on Monday. At -5, she will enter Tuesday's third and final round in contention for her third victory of the season. Moon has been fairly consistent throughout the tournament. She has posted just one bogey in each of the first two rounds. She tallied four birdies Sunday and three more Monday.
Meanwhile, junior Maria Balcazar is also in the Top 20 among the field of 98 golfers. Balcazar is tied for 16th and is 2-under for the tournament. The junior was even par on Monday, recording one birdie and one bogey to go with 16 pars. Balcazar is tied for top honors in the tournament for average scoring on Par 3s. She is averaging a score of 2.75 on Par 3 holes.
The Knights' team lineup also consists of freshman Alyssa Lamoureux (T-57th, +3), sophomore Ana Laura Collado (T-57th, +3) and senior Nicolette Donovan (T-83rd, +8).
However, a pair of Knights who are taking part as individuals are also making a bit of noise. Senior Anna Hack was near the top of the leaderboard most of Monday before dropping back to a tie for 22nd at -1 for the tournament. Hack has tallied seven birdies throughout the first two rounds. Sophomore Chinatsu Kobayashi is currently tied for 34th at Even par. Kobayashi has been among the best in the tournament on Par 5 holes, averaging 4.25 strokes per Par 5, second best in the tournament. Rachel Silverman (97th, +18) rounds out the Knights' participants in the UCF Challenge.
Tuesday's final round begins at 8:45 a.m.
