Five-Game Slate On Deck for UCF

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team is back on their home turf hosting the Knights Classic featuring four visiting teams from Friday through Sunday. Penn State, Pitt, Coastal Carolina, and LA Tech will visit the UCF Softball Complex for a packed weekend with 10 games.

Live stats will be available for all games and a live stream will be available for all UCF games.

UCF will face Coastal Carolina (9-1) and LA Tech (10-1) for the first time in program history and will duel with two Power 6 opponents in a total of four games with Pitt (1-8) and Penn State (3-6).

    • This will be the first meeting with Louisiana Tech

KNIGHT BITES

  • PV COLLEGE CHALLENGE: The Knights went on a quick international trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for four games. UCF went 2-2 on the weekend with wins over Northern Colorado and Sacramento State. As a team, the Knights tallied 33 hits, eight doubles, and 17 runs for a .314 batting average.
  • ALL-TOURNEY TALENT: Jazmine Esparza and Breanna Vasquez both earned All-Tournament honors at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. Esparza racked up five hits and brought in six runs, while Vasquez threw a three-hitter to shutout Northern Colorado, 7-0. Vasquez had a no-hitter going until the sixth innng in just her second outing of her collegiate career.
  • COME BACK KIDS: After trailing 5-1 after the second inning, the Knights’ offense compiled five unanswered runs to pull of the come-from-behind victory over the Hornets. The Knights were led by senior Erin Emanuel and junior Tamesha Glover offensively each picking up two hits. Emanuel started the rally in the sixth inning to propel the Knights to get two runs to take the lead.
  • DYNAMITE DUO: During the PV Challenge, Glover and Cassady Brewer combined for 10 hits, three doubles, and four runs hitting back-to-back in the order. Brewer left Mexico with an .857 slugging percentage and .571 hitting. 
  • HOT START: After eight games, Glover is off to a strong start reaching base in all eight games. Esparza is close behind currently with a six-game on-base streak.
