ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team takes their only non-conference trip out of the state of Florida to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a four-game slate as part of the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.

Live stats will be available for all four games and a live stream will be available via FloSoftball.

The Knights will face off against two ranked opponents over the weekend as they continue their strong non-conference schedule. For the past four consecutive years, the Knights have been victorious over at least two ranked opponents. UCF took care of No. 24 Ohio State, 3-2, on Saturday and will have two more opportunities to continue the streak while in Mexico.

  • Friday – vs. No. 5 Washington – 7pm

KNIGHT BITES

  • OPENING WEEKEND WRAP-UP: The Knights hosted the annual Friends of Jaclyn Tournament at the UCF Softball Complex going 2-2 on the weekend. UCF picked up their first win of the season over No. 24 Ohio State, 3-2, then grabbed their second win against George Mason.
  • KEEP IT 100: Coach Ball-Malone earned her 100th victory as a Division I Head Coach with the win against Ohio State. Her previous 99 wins were with her previous school, Boise State.
  • JAZZY TIME: Junior Jazmine Esparza led the Knights past #Power6 opponent, Ohio State, when she delivered a two-run double to pull ahead, 3-2. Esparza also notched a hit against George Mason bringing in her third RBI of the weekend.
  • NEWCOMERS IMPACT: Seven newcomers saw action during opening weekend. Alicia Tomberlin, Karissa Ornelas, and Takiya London each combined for four hits and five RBI.
  • MCGLOVIN’: Tamesha Glover paced the Knights in hits with four with two hits against Ole Miss, one against Minnesota, and another against George Mason. Glover was also perfect defensively at third base compiling 11 assists and two putouts.
  • TOUGH D: After four games, the Knights are nearly perfect in the field committing just one error over 28 innings for a .991 fielding percentage. UCF leads the conference and is top-15 in the country.
