COLUMBUS, Ohio (UCFKnights.com) -- Two UCF football student-athletes were honored by the Touchdown Club of Columbus Saturday evening.
Junior safety Richie Grant and junior running back Greg McCrae were both named TDC Players to Watch for 2019. The Touchdown Club of Columbus held its 64th Annual TCD Awards event Saturday night at Columbus Live! in downtown Columbus.
Grant was a First Team All-American Athletic Conference selection in 2018 as a sophomore. He led The American and ranked NO. 5 in the nation in interceptions per game, averaging 0.5 picks per contest. He led the Knights in tackles with 109. His six interceptions were tied for third most ever in a season by a Knight.
McCrae led UCF with 1,182 rushing yards in 2018 and scored nine touchdowns rushing. His rushing total gave the Knights their first 1,000-yard rusher since 2013. His 206-yard performance vs. Memphis in the AAC Championship marked the first time a Knight rusher broke 200 yards since 2011. McCrae added a receiving TD to total 10 scores for the season.
This marks the second consecutive year a Knight has been invited to the TDC Awards. Quarterback McKenzie Milton was honored with the organization's 2017 Archie Griffin Award, which is given annually to the nation's most valuable player.
UCF begins spring practice in early March, with the annual Spring Game set for April 13.
