ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – For the second straight week, the UCF women’s soccer team was recognized by the league office. Vera Varis was named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday.
Varis recorded the 20th shutout of her career in the win over Houston, moving her into sixth on UCF’s all-time career leader list.
The Vantaa, Finland native recorded five saves on the week, pushing her career total to 221 which ranks fourth on UCF’s career list.
Varis collected the weekly accolade for the second time this season, and the third time in her career.
After helping the No. 24 Knights clinch their spot in The American Championship with a 3-0 win over Houston on Sunday, Carrie Lawrence and Dina Orschmann each earned a spot on the honor roll.

The Knights close out their regular season on Oct. 26, heading to Tampa to face No. 17/20 South Florida. In addition to a share of the conference title, six points in the War on I4 rivalry series are on the line. UCF currently leads the 2018-19 War on I4, 9-0.
