ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 24 UCF women’s soccer team will host Houston in its final regular season home contest on Sunday afternoon.
UCF (8-5-1, 5-2 The American) welcome the Cougars (7-8-2, 3-3-1 The American) for a 1 p.m. American Athletic Conference contest at the UCF Soccer Complex.
Knight Notes
- UCF jumped back into the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 on Tuesday, landing at No. 24.
- Stefanie Sanders extended her team lead to 11 goals in 2018, tallying back-to-back game-winners against then-No. 15/18 Memphis and Tulsa last weekend.
- Nine different Knights have netted a goal in 2018, while 12 different members of the squad have tallied a point.
- Zandy Soree is second for the Knights with six goals and 14 total points on the season.
- Kristen Scott has four goals in 2018, while Madison Murnin and Piper Dotsikas joined the list of goal scorers in the 3-1 win at Tulsa.
- Vera Varis has started each match for the Knights, making 41 saves with a 1.21 goals-against average in 2018.
Senior Salute
- Prior to Sunday’s match, UCF will recognize its eight-member senior class.
- As a class, the seniors have accumulated 42 victories, winning the 2017 American Athletic Conference regular season championship and earning a bid to the 2015 and 2017 NCAA Tournament.
- Maura Aman, Samantha Chung, Carrie Lawrence, Adrienne Li, Lauren Nemeroff, Chloe N’Gazi, Emily Tipton and Vera Varis will be honored before the game.
Scouting the Cougars
- Houston is 7-8-2 overall, with a 3-3-1 mark in conference play. The Cougars complete their Florida trip after falling 3-2 at No. 20 USF on Thursday.
- The Knights lead the all-time series 12-0-1.
- As a team, 11 different Cougars have found the back of the net, led by Desiree Bowen’s seven markers on the season.
- A trio of Cougars have seen time in goal this season, with Rachel Estopare leading the way. She’s made 49 saves with a 1.71 goals-against average.
