ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s soccer team returned to the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 on Tuesday, jumping in at No. 24 in the poll.
UCF (8-4-1, 5-1 The American) swept its weekend of American Athletic Conference road action, handing then-No. 15/18 Memphis its first loss in league play this season in a 2-0 shutout. The Knights capped off the trip with a 3-1 victory at Tulsa to move in to a tie for first place in the league standings.
The Black and Gold have won six of their last seven outings and are ranked nationally in shots per game (35th) and scoring offense (37th).
Individually, Stefanie Sanders leads the nation in shots per game and shots on goal per game. She is fifth in the country with five game-winning goals and ranks seventh with 0.92 goals per game. On Monday, she earned her second American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award. Piper Dotsikas was tabbed as The American's Rookie of the Week after scoring the first goal of her collegiate career in the win at Tulsa.
The Knights began the 2018 campaign ranked 16th in the preseason poll and return to the rankings after slipping out after the Week 1 poll.
