ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After sweeping a pair of conference road matches, two members of the UCF women’s soccer team were recognized by American Athletic Conference on Monday. Stefanie Sanders was named The American Offensive Player of the Week and Piper Dotsikas was named league’s Rookie of the Week.
Sanders earned her second conference award of the season after accumulating five points in UCF’s two wins at No. 15/18 Memphis and Tulsa. The Hamburg, Germany native registered the game-winning goal in both contests, pushing her team lead to 11 goals on the season.
In the 64th minute in UCF’s 3-1 win at Tulsa, Dotsikas found the back of the net for the first time in her UCF career. The Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., native saw action in both contests over the weekend to help the Knights move into a tie at the top of the league standings.
UCF posted its third shutout of the season, and first in conference play in a 2-0 win at Memphis on Oct. 11. The Knights completed the weekend sweep with a 3-1 win at Tulsa on Oct. 14 and are now tied for first place in the league.
