ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF Baseball alumnus Beau Taylor received his first callup to The Show on Saturday when the Oakland A’s brought him up from Triple-A Nashville Sounds.
Playing in his eighth season of professional baseball, Taylor played the entire 2018 season with the Sounds. He posted a .248 batting average with a .348 slugging percentage and a .360 on-base percentage to go with 39 RBI.
The former UCF catcher played three seasons with the Knights. He appeared in 154 games and was a career .337 hitter, including a .354 clip during his sophomore season in 2009-2010. Taylor notched 16 home runs and 105 RBI during his three-year collegiate career.
Taylor becomes the 12th Knight to reach the Major Leagues, as well as the seventh alumnus to play in The Show during the 2018 season, joining Ben Lively, Eric Skoglund, Drew Butera, who was traded to the Colorado Rockies late last week, Darnell Sweeney, Chase Bradford and Dan Winkler.
