2018 Preview: D-Line

2018 Preview - The football season is just around the corner. Leading into camp, fans will have an opportunity to get a look at what the Knights will have in store for the 2018 campaign with position-by-position previews. Watch highlights of returners and read up on what to expect this fall.

DEFENSIVE LINE
While the Knights will have flexibility in formations, the defensive line has a much different look in 2018 based on incorporating more 4-3 schemes.

The Knights lost starting defensive linemen Jamiyus Pittman and Tony Guerad, along with backup Seyvon Lowry, but there is still a great deal of depth and experience returning.

On the interior, junior Trysten Hill has been a starter since his freshman year and was a Second Team All-Conference selection in The American last season.

Seniors Joey Connors, A.J. Wooten and Aaron Cochran have all been in the starting lineup before and played a number of significant snaps on the defensive line. Wooten tallied 15 tackles and half a sack in 2017. Connors also had 15 stops and a pair of sacks last season. Cochran made six total tackles during his junior season.

At defensive end, redshirt junior Brendon Hayes returns with 24 games of experience under his belt.

Senior Titus Davis was listed as an outside linebacker last season and will now be a defensive end. Davis started all 13 games in 2017 and ranked fifth on the team with 67 tackles. He added 1.5 sacks as well.

Promising redshirt sophomore Dedrion Bacote-Sweat was injured in last year's season-opener, but will look to contribute at defensive end this season.

Highly-touted Jeremiah Zio, who red-shirted last season and former linebacker T.J. Pitts will also be expected to compete for playing time.
