ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Four members of the UCF track and field team begin competition at the NCAA East Region on Thursday at the USF Track and Field Stadium.
Due to incoming inclement weather, the schedule of events has been moved up.
Natosha Jordan opens the weekend for UCF in the high jump at 2 p.m. on Thursday. She cleared a collegiate-best 5-9.25/1.76m on three separate occasions in the high jump, including a pair of times at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship. The sophomore set a heptathlon high jump meet record with the height.
Rosie Chamberlain will represent the Black and Gold in the 800-meter run at 4:35 p.m. on Thursday. A season-best time of 2:05.46 at the Florida Relays on March 29 qualified her for the fourth consecutive year.
In the first of her two events of the weekend, Jhane' Carter will compete in the shot put at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. She will make her third consecutive NCAA regional appearance in the event, using a season-best distance of 50-8.75/15.46m at The American Championship to solidify her position in Tampa.
For the third straight year, UCF will be represented by multiple Knights in the hammer throw. Carter will join Gabby Durant in the field at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Durant used a personal best distance at the War Eagle Invitational to become the first Knight in program history to surpass the 200-foot mark in the event, landing at 200-6/61.12m. Carter's personal best mark of 189-10/5786m at the Tom Jones Memorial, qualified her for the East Regional.
All four Knights seek their first appearance and extend UCF's nine-year streak of representation at the NCAA Championships, which will take place from June 6-9 in Eugene, Ore.at the NCAA Championships. The top 12 individuals in each event, along with the top 12 relay teams, will earn a spot at the NCAA Championships.
