Conference Concluded

CINCINNATI, Ohio (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field team racked up the points to earn a 10th place finish at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship on Sunday.

Rosie Chamberlain closed out her final conference meet with a podium finish in the 800-meter. The senior crossed the line in 2:06.19 to earn second, giving her a trio of medals in the outdoor event for her career.

Natosha Jordan cleared 5-9.25/1.76m in the high jump for the second time this weekend, earning her second podium finish at Gettler Stadium. The sophomore finished third overall, adding six points to UCF's team score.

In the five-year history of The American, UCF has placed a quartet on the podium in the 4x100-meter relay every year. The squad of Sarah Wollaston, Shaniya Williams, Ciara Holback and Loren Gallmon delivered a season-best performance with a time of 45.34 to bring the bronze medals back to Orlando.

The UCF 4x400 relay squad of Venida Fagan, Ebony Crear, Crystal Tejeda and Rosie Chamberlain closed out the weekend with a fourth place finish. The Knights, who have earned a top four finish in all five years of The American, posted a season-best time of 3:41.76.

Daneesha Davidson improved her mark on each of her first three jumps in the triple jump to advance to the finals. The freshman landed at 40-1.25/12.22m on her first jump in the finals, which gave her eighth place overall. Five of her six attempts were personal bests, and her point pushed the Knights into the top 10 in the team standings.

Ebony Crear collected a sixth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Her time of 1:00.59 added three points to UCF's team score.

In the 100-meter dash, Shaniya Williams earned an additional two points for the Knights. The rookie posted an 11.75 mark to finish seventh in the standings.

Jhane' Carter led UCF's four competitors in the shot put with a seventh place finish. Her season-best distance of 50-8.75/15.46m added a pair of points to the Black and Gold's team score.

All four Knights finished in the top 20, as Shanell Atkins (47-1.75/14.37m) finished 11th. Gabby Durant turned in a personal best mark of 45-5.75/13.86m to finish 14th and Courtney Morgan took 19th with 42-5.5/12.94m. Kebreyona Acker cleared a season-best 5-3/1.60m to finish 14th in the high jump.

The Knights finished with 44 points, giving them 10th in the team standings. UCF concluded the second year of the War on I-4 rivalry series with its second sweep USF, as the Bulls finished 12th with 34 points. Between indoor and outdoor, along with cross country, the Knights have collected all 12 points in the two-year history of the rivalry series.

The Knights now wait until May 17 for the NCAA to release the list of athletes that qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round that will take place in Tampa from May 24-26. The top 48 individuals and top 24 relays qualify for the regional meet.
