ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF's Second Varsity Eight was named the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week on Monday.
 
The boat, consisting of Catherine Harms, Alyssa Ramos, Ieva Medelinskaite, Rusne Dziugyte, Sydney Hays, Leslie Lajoie, Shannon Perry, Edvina Nesukaityte and Michaela Gundrum, captured first place in the B Final at the Longhorn Invite on Saturday morning.
 
The crew finished third in their opening heat on Walter E. Long Lake, nearly 30 seconds ahead of Miami, and advanced to the B Final. Using a time of 7:03.298, the Knights captured the B Final title, finishing more than six seconds ahead of No. 18 Oklahoma, 10 seconds ahead of Alabama and 20 seconds ahead of Miami.
 
Monday's accolade marks the second time that UCF's 2V8 has collected Boat of the Week honors from the league this season.
 
The Knights now turn their focus to the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championship. The three-time defending champions will race for a fourth consecutive title at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J., on May 12.
