ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The War On I-4 series trophy is still up for grabs this season, after No. 38 UCF fell to its American Athletic Conference rival USF 4-1 Sunday at the USTA National Campus.

In the final College Matchday showcase of the season, the Knights (10-9, 1-2) had a chance to capture the War On I-4 trophy with a win versus the Bulls (8-15, 2-3), but struggled to get the ball rolling in singles action. UCF still leads the overall War on I-4 point total, 36-21.

"We obviously didn't play anywhere near our best tennis tonight," said John Roddick, UCF Director of Tennis and men's head coach. "South Florida, I mean give them credit, they came out and definitely played with nothing to lose and they out-competed us."

In a revised format, the match began with singles play.

Grayson Goldin put USF on the board first with a win at No.3 over Alan Rubio, 6-3, 6-3.

Playing in his final home match, senior Danny Kerznerman provided the lone point for the Knights. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native took down Sean Burnette, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.

Peter Bertran put the Bulls up 2-1 with his 6-2, 6-3 win at No.2 over Gabriel DeCamps.

Jakub Wojcik put USF one away from the clinch at No. 5. Wojcik defeated Eero Vasa, 7-5, 6-1.

The clincher came at No. 4, with Pierre Luquet taking down Mikhail Sokolovskiy, 6-3, 6-3.

UCF senior Korey Lovett was also serving for match point at the time of clinch.
