No Problem At North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Behind the bats of Denali Schappacher and Cassady Brewer, the Knights picked up a win at UNF on Wednesday evening with a 5-3 win over the Ospreys.

Schappacher led the UCF offense going 3-for-4 scoring two runs and driving in a run along with a pair of stolen bases, while Brewer collected two runs with an RBI and a walk.

Sophomores Aubrey Johnson and Kyra Klarkowski each collected a hit in the win with Klarkowski and Kaitlyn Jensen driving in one run each.

UCF moves to 27-15 after the midweek win as they prepare to head back into American Athletic Conference play.

The Knights wasted no time getting the offense going as they loaded the bases in the first inning. Schappacher reached on an Osprey miscue, while Brewer followed with a walk. The Knights put on the double steal to put Schappacher and Brewer in scoring position. Jensen was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but after a pair of fly balls, UNF ended the inning.

In the bottom of the first, the Ospreys jumped ahead of the Knights with a sacrifice fly to left field to go up 1-0 to start the matchup.

It was a duel in the circle until the fifth inning when the Knights took the lead from UNF as UCF piled on the hits and the runs.

UNF began the inning with back-to-back errors to put runners in scoring position for the Knights. Schappacher dropped a blooper into center field to bring in Courtney Rotton, who pinch ran for Hayley Bejarano. On the play, UNF threw the ball away attempting to get Erin Emanuel at third, but the ball was well overthrown, and Emanuel booked it home to score and make it a 2-1 game in favor of the Knights.

UCF wasn't done as they tacked on two more runs with RBI singles from Brewer and Kyra Klarkowski to extend their lead to 4-1 over the Ospreys.

In the top of the seventh, the Knights collected another run off a bases-loaded sacrifice fly from Jensen to make it 5-1.

Alea White picked up her 21st win of the season throwing 114 pitches giving up seven hits and only one earned run, while striking out four.
