ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF's Second Varsity Eight was named the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week on Monday.
The crew consisted of Nicole Mayer, Alyssa Ramos, Ieva Medelinskaite, Lara Maule, Sydney Hays, Rusne Dziugyte, Shannon Perry, Leslie Lajoie and Rachel Rabinowitz.
On Friday, the squad lined up against UConn and Jacksonville and rowed to an open-water victory on Lake Pickett. Not only did the 2V8 collected the win, the boat crossed the finish line in 6:38.53, which was faster than UConn (6:43.96), Jacksonville (6:50.71) and Nova Southeastern (7:18.33) in the Varsity Eight race.
The Knights return to action on March 31, racing Miami and Wisconsin in Sarasota.
