ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field team opened its outdoor season on a high note at the Black and Gold Challenge on Friday.

Rosie Chamberlain came around the final corner, sprinting to the finish to capture the 800-meter title at the UCF Track and Field Complex. The senior's winning time of 2:08.78 marked the fastest outdoor time in the event in Division I this season.

Kalleigh Forrester posted her highest finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase since 2016, taking third with a time of 11:02.39.

Her third throw of the day advanced Gabby Durant to the finals in the hammer throw, and landed her at fifth overall in the event. Durant opened the outdoor season with a mark of 56.55m/185-06, which ranks sixth in the nation.

Briana Potter finished sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.77m/38-7.5. Anna Chamness tied her personal best in the pole vault, clearing 3.65m/11-11.75 to tie for ninth.

The Knights will resume action on Saturday. Field events begin at 10 a.m., followed by running events at 11 a.m.
